1993 F250 4x4 Front Leaf Question

Hey guys,

I recently got a 93 F250 4x4 7.3 Turbo and the front leafs are really sagged. It is throwing off the front camber (negative) and giving negative axle sag. I jacked up the front a little and it looks right, while also correcting the camber.

I have a set of stock leafs from a 1979 Ford F250 lying around from a project. I am almost certain they will bolt up, but I'm not sure if this will fix the problem. I would imagine the diesel rated trucks had heavier springs, so I might have the same issue. I also have a 74 F250 'highboy' I can use for parts, the springs are bigger, but I would be worried it would lift it too much. This is a dump run truck, so ride is not important.

Can I use these springs in place of the stock springs?

Would add a leaf be a better option?

Thanks!

Spring rate is very different, on a solid axle truck the same year as the ttb truck springs were 2200 lb, ttb is 3485 lb or so. Best bet would be doing new leaves, 43-498 springs are $120 a side, I put them on mine 2 years ago, still haven't sagged past initial break in, rides decent, and doesn't wear tires bad.

Ok, thanks. That's exactly what I needed. I'm just trying to get the camber correct for some new tires, but that isn't super expensive for new tires. If it were for the negative camber, I wouldn't care!

No, I don't think so. SD trucks were solid axle, so same issue as with using the 70's springs. A site sponsor on here, ATS Springs, should be able to help you out with what you need.

To do super duty springs you will need to do some variation of axle swaps and reverse shackle kits for that to work properly.

I knew I hated that axle, now I know why...haha

Looks like I'll be doing an add-a-leaf for the time being.

How much is that going to cost? Then you are going to pay for the new springs and do the job again? That doesn’t make much sense to me.

I can get an extra leaf kit for $79. Springs are around $300+ shipped.

My father in law has a set of stock leafs, but he's 6 hours away. Worse case I can run the add a leaf to not screw up my new tires and do the other full leafs later. Honestly, I may just check to see if they can correct my camber without doing anything. The lower front doesn't bother me one bit.

This is a dump run truck only. I have a big project going and I am 100% using your train of thought on that. Can't afford to think that way on both. I am running 4" lift SD springs on my 79. 6" lift model correct in the rear.

If your springs are that bad, you probably won't need drop brackets to get it back to alignment with just add a leaves.
