COP broken bolt question...

During a plug change, I broke one of the 7mm bolts that holds the COP in place. It's just about flush with the intake manifold.... just a few threads sticking out above it.

What are my options here? I assume that the COP needs to be held in place by the bolt for peak operation? I'm sure I can wedge something between the COP and the fuel rail to put enough pressure on it until I can fix it.

As far as the bolt, any recommendations as to how to handle it? I've got an easy out kit but I'm worried about messing it up even further. Looking for suggestions...

On the brighter side, the rest of the plugs have gone great!

Did the same thing myself (twice) once I got it with just my fingers, helped to have nails and very small hands. Second I got it out with a hemostat to grab edge and turned it out out. They don't need to be that tight so lesson learned on cranking too hard.

If that won't work a dremel with a very small diamond burr bit, high rpm and just tap a small hole in the enter of the bolt. Those diamond head bits cut like butter and you just need a tiny hole to get something to catch and hold, tap a small reverse bit or even a tiny allen into it and use a pair of vice grips to spin it out.

Thanks, will take a look at it in a little bit. Used one of the old COP boots with the spring zip tied in place to put tension on the COP between the COP and the fuel rail as a temporary bandaid... seems to be working so far.

Wondered where you were Christina. OP; Another fix is to put a dab of Crazy glue on the end of a small bolt and carefully tape it to the broken piece (end to end), let it sit overnight, and spin it out in the morning.

I'm alive. Just literally been in work hell since early June, 100 hour weeks. We cleaned house and fired every lazy person drawing a paycheck, so things kind of got crazy for a couple months. Settling down thank goodness.

Nope. Many guys with Lightnings have run for years without any COP hold down bolts.

Right, they are just there to keep things tidy and "in place".

Lol, when I was a building contractor we called that "dead weight on the payroll".

Yup. Just a little insurance policy "just in case."

I did the same and just went and got a rubber door stop and wedged it under the fuel rail. Been there 2yrs with no issues so far.
