I know I will prolly be crucified by some when I say this. but just for ****s and giggles I threw the old filter to the side and reinstalled just the wix cap(no filter) and started the truck. fired right up and idled ok(still had a little bit of a stumble but nothing like before.)

How Often do you change Oil??
Get it All Changed back to OEM (FORD) OIL Cap and Filters andStick with Those
All theses After Market Filter co Have really caused a Huge Mess and to be COMPLEATLY HONEST Fu!KED up ALOT of TRUCKS
changed the oil today. put in a mastercraft filter and new oil filter cap from ford.
put in 3 gal. of rotella T6 full syn.
added 2 qts of Hot Shot Secrets Stiction Eliminator
Also added(heres where it gets interesting) messed up my math numbers and thought a qt was 16 ounces annnndddddd its not lol. added 32 oz of Hot Shot Secrets Diesel Extreme.
Trucks running like a champ now(I happen to think better than when I bought it) BUUUTTTTTTTTT
it smokes like a freight train. Gray smoke when idling and solid black when giving it throttle. but doesn't smoke when I crank it with a cold motor. only once it warms and I bump throttle.
possibly just cleaning out or is it burning the extra diesel extreme out. or something else??????????
by the way it was for sure filter media floating in the oil. not a lot though.
no the filter pleats started to come apart. when I got it home Friday I pulled the dipstick and saw what looked like trash so I pulled the filter cause I new I could catch some oil there before it drained back down. and noticed the pleats coming apart. not a whole lot but enough to scare the beejebus out of me. when I drained the oil today I strained it as well and got just a little more. plans are to run a week or two depending on what I come up with on the smoking issue and change it again just to flush anything out of it that may have been hung up. at that time I am gonna do a maint treatment on the stiction eliminator
my question is will it hurt to run it another week or so. I was planning on swapping with the wife(she only drives 20 miles a day round trip opposed to my 65 mile days) and this weekend have the orings for the EGR valve and maybe even get parts together to pull the turbo down and clean it up
