EGR Delete Complete

Finally finished the EGR and Oil Cooler Delete. Everything is put back together. my EOTs peaked out at 212 running down the interstate at 75 mph. I'm going to load my tractor tomorrow and haul it down the road. I hope the temp stays below 240. I'll be happy. When I have enough post I'll add pictures

Ha, I hope not. I think he installed a remote oil cooler. What do you mean your EOT peaked at 212 degrees? What was your Coolant Temp?

Sorry I should have said I installed a remote Oil Cooler and Oil Filter and deleted the EGR. My ECT ran 178-185 going down the interstate

Interesting. I'm new to Diesels, I know cars do those temps, but I've never seen my Diesel with oil temps that high. I would think that you're ok. I'm interested in hearing what others say.

Yes, I ran a 400 mile trip without a Thermostat and I averaged about 3.2 miles less per gallon than I do with one in. The only reason I know this is because I run the same stretch of road going to work every day. Without a thermostat, Ambient temps were 79-85 and I was averaging 18 mpg with the lie-o-meter (dash mpg reading). With a new thermostat, I am averaging 21.2 mpg (same gauge) and ambient temps of 67-72. Diesels give you the best mpg above 190 on the water temp.

Your temp spread wont mean much until you get your thermostat replaced. What do your temp sensors read after an overnight cold soak? They should be within a couple of degrees of one another. Also did you leave your EGR valve in place and plugged in?

Did you mount the cooler in front of the condenser?

In all honesty once the EGR cooler is deleted the temp spread is meaningless and as long as the oil temp is below 253 when the engine is worked the hardest there won't be an issue.

I just went for a 100 mile run pulling my small dozer weights 7k# my trailer weights 2200# on the interstate running 70mph with cruise. The highest my EOT got was 230 for less than 4 minutes pulling long gradual up hill. My EWT got to 209 in traffic after getting off interstate but went down right away. I am HAPPY
Yes I have the EGR Valve connected
The oil cooler and filter is mounted in front of all coolers. I'll add pictures when able. Thanks for All the Help couldn't have done it without you all.

BINGO^^

He Sounds Good for Now

I thinking he will get closer to that 253* on a hotter day but 230* isn't to bad for His almost 20K going down the road

I drove in 120* ambient and you shure could tell the diff from 100* day

A little highjacking here.

Assuming the egr it's deleted, doesn't the delta still give you an idea of the oil cooler function? My truck blew an egr cooler one year. It was deleted, but they didn't replace the oil cooler. The next year, the oil cooler blew. A new cooler was installed with no, or poor flushing. 9 months later, my deltas were 30. I FLUSHED, replaced the oil cooler, and now getting deltas of 8.
