Correct on a stock truck but now he is using air to cool the oil down instead of coolant.

Agreed. An air cooled oil cooler has nothing to do with the coolant temps.

I thought he was making a statement about 6.0s in general.

With stock cooler and EGR delete the temp spread is no longer a hard fast rule.

However it's something to still keep an eye on to make sure things do not get out of hand.

Agreed, Josh. I considered not changing my oil cooler when I had deltas of 30. I decided to be safe.

Whoa! Yeah, I wouldn't let it get to that extreme.

High "Deltas" with stock oil and EGR cooler is a ticking time bomb.

The same with stock oil cooler and EGR delete is really borrowed time. You'll have to replace the oil cooler eventually, but not immediately.

External oil cooler and EGR delete is just keep the oil under 253.

I just hate to hear these stories of repeat after repeat of Failure of this Oil Cooler & EGR Cooler DEMONS within the 6.0L

If they would have done it right the Problem could have been solved the Very FIRST Time!!

It Put a Bad Taste in the Consumers Mouth for the 6.0L and Of Coarse we All hate to hear the 6.0L get slammed for something that shouldn't have Been

Iv seen a Handful of folks come through with your Same Deal repeat failure some Getting ready to install OIL COOLER #4 and Find FTE in a Search to end the Madness That Most the Time comes down to NO Flush of cooling system or Spill-N-Fill Only that Has be Skipped or not done Good

The Trucks been around awhile this didn't hAPPEN YESTERDAY

I have to believe by now that the shops that don't address the coolant system when a Truck comes in with Oil Cooler or EGR Cooler issues are Plain and Simple Crooks

Good morning All I'm going to run the air cooled oil cooler for a while or until the oil temps starts going up and in the meantime look for a larger oil cooler, The hard part is over. For now I'm satisfied with it and also was getting behind with my other work so I needed it running.

It has nothing to do with your horsepower. That's all in the PCM tuning.

Subscribing, my dad is about ready to buy a 6.0. Can somebody point me in the direction where I can read about the deltas and stuff you were talking about. I am his mechanic most of the times and am gonna have to read up on stuff so I can take care of his engine. I know my way around my 7.3 no problem. But a little less stuff to keep track of with that engine.

There is a tech folder link at the top of this forum that has enough material to keep you reading about the 6.0L until your eyes bleed. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/3...ch-folder.html

Benny, I agree. I can't stand to not do something right the first time. Guys that with on these things should know better. From my yesterday, I am now convinced u have to back flush the heater core seperately.

My mechanic didn't work on a lot of diesels, but he's starting to. I'm sharing my 6.0 knowledge with him and will be leaving my cut opened oil cooler with 1" of oily goop on the bottom of the coolant feed tube with him so he can use it to justify an extra 2 hours of labor for proper flushing of 6.0s after oil or egr cooler ruptures.

I am taking pictures and using a Boroscope and will be posting my experience with pictures soon.
