Not sure where that was filmed, but it's a pretty common in the southwest. And it can be so fast that once a family of 8 wild pigs got caught off guard and killed in a wash.
Very scary - shows how or why people die in flash floods - they find a nice dry wash - and some out by Moab, Utah where a lot of people go 4 wheeling are 50 -75 feet wide with 6 -10 foot walls. To the uninformed the wash makes a great place to set up a campsite, protected from the winds, usually a soft sandy ground. then in the middle of the night the flood waters come thru.
Being from Nj I would not have understood this until I saw it out in Utah and thankfully the US Park Ranger advised the people to move their camp from the wash. Next day the wash was like a river. Scary stuff to say the least !
