I just got back from a full day up at Meguiar's in Irvine learning all about the fine art of detailing. 16 of us from our truck club went to the free event and all had a great time and learned a lot. For those who are in the area or can make the trip to SoCal, I highly recommend this classroom and hands-on training event. Barry Meguiar seems to have hired people with the same passion for automobiles and great personalities as does he. Oh, did I mention how nice our trucks look now?
We were told that the NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 is even a better product than the Gold Class...newer polymer technology with better "hydrophobic" properties (water beads up better on a finish with this product). Did I mention that the "new improved" product is 50% more expensive? We used the NXT wax in the class and the results were indeed amazing!
when I finally get it painted charlie
maybee you could come over and give me a half day demonstration
on my truck....I'd like to see the it done start to finish
Mike Pennington, the head of training for Meguiar, has just posted pictures from our session on Saturday...http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36591
The blue 55 F100 is one of our guys trucks, the red 56 in the parking lot belongs to the guy standing in front of it...he bought it new in 1956!

Some one told me that it was bad to wax a basecoat-clearcoat paint job because the wax didn't get along with the clearcoat.
What did they have to say about this?

I don't know who told you that but they certainly are misinformed. If that were the case then every car wax manufacturer would go out of business because virtually every car that has been built in the last decade has B/C C/C paint. There is nothing special about the clearcoat with regards to waxing, it's just a lot more durable than the older single stage enamels.
