Another Exhaust Thread....

Looking for input.

Currently I have only deleted. When I got rid of my cat & dpf, I just put in the delete pipes. Everything else is stock. ie: downpipe, muffler, tail pipe.

I have been considering, replacing from turbo back with 4".

4" or 5"...? Why..?

Muffler or no muffler, & why..?

Benefits of upgraded intercooler pipe...?

I currently have 150K on my truck, & want it to last at least double that & then some. I travel mostly highway miles, & do tow sometimes but, not regularly. I'd say once or twice a month. Although, I never tow as heavy as some of you guys do. When Im towing, its usually 5-12,000 lbs. Although, there are some hills involved at times

What have you done to yours & why..?

Thanks.

Sure you are going to get much more "tested" feed back than this but I'll give my $.02. Obviously to keep from throwing codes when you deleted you must have a "programmer" of one type or another.

I also ask'd the 4-5" ? & it was suggested(on this forum) unless you plan on doing MAJOR upgrades a 4" will flow more than enough air. Sounded right but the salesmen talked me into a 5" cause he said it would have a deeper tone... Don't have anything to compare it to but it is deep & I'm happy with my $30? upgrade(w 6" tip...). Also went no muff(from info here) & it sounds good. I'd compare it to a healthy V8 trk with a dual exhuast. It's deff there but IMO not offensive... Alot of other shops around but the Rudy's tech I spoke with said the DP back would be more than enough for a mild tune. As every one will tell you the downpipe installation can(will) be a bitch...

Just updated an older radiator post but I will put some here as well since you're looking for info... Look at that other post 4 specifics but since I need a GOOD rad, since I'm going to be ordering from them anyway I will prob get their(Mishomoto) intercooler kit. Never thought that would b a concern but since I'm SO HAPPY with this Rad news, thought it might b beneficial in the long run... I(like you) plan on having this truck for along time...

Appreciate the feedback.

Yeah man. I have an H&S xrt pro. I didn't mention it in the thread cause it's in my signature.

I was looking at going 4". I was thinking dp as well just from the pics Ive seen of the dp's restrictions with the crimp in it. Im no engineer, or much much of a wrench but, that plus the bend in the intercooler pipe look pretty serious. I was/am curious to just how improved it is to replace those with free flowing alternatives.

Again, my motive is longevity for my engine/truck.

As far as the intercooler, & rad go..... I had my radiator replaced at 130,000. If I have any more problems, or when this one goes bad, I will not go oem again. That one your looking at sounds like a better deal.

Go 5" with no muffler. Mine didn't drone and the 5 sounds better than the 4".

I left the stock muffler (which really is an empty can, best I can tell) and stock pipe on and it sounds sorta like a jet plane. I think some kind of muffler would be a big improvement but I haven't decided what yet.

Does the XRT give you a big HP increase? If not you are just spending money to upgrade the pipes to either 4 or 5 inch. These trucks don't street race very well and unless you are running some really big tunes for a sled pull I don't think you will be able to tell the difference. Same for an air box. Save your money and buy some truck bling. Or, better yet invest it. Just my humble opinion.
