I have a 1999 f350 superduty with a 7.3 deisel. My engine continually stalls, more so when it gets warm. The service engine light comes on, but resets when the key is turned off. I belive it is the cam shaft sensor from what I have read, but I was wondering if I can test it before replacing, a diagnostic check showed no codes.
Mine showed a couple of codes and we reset them and let it run for about 20 minutes and then it died. Never would start back up but yet never resent the codes that time? I instaled the new $180 cam sensor and runs like a champ. So just because there is'nt any codes my not mean its not broke. I would think you could check them but I didnt know anybody who knew how. Good luck.
I have been to the International web site, but can't seem to find a place to order parts. Or is there a phone number for their parts dept. Any help would be much appreciated!
I want to keep an extera sensor in the glove box. Thanks.
Search for a parts dealer in your area. If you don't have one near you, maybe they would mail the part to you. It would still be a lot cheaper than Ford's prices.
a cam position sensor for the Ford Powerstroke, some people just call it a CPS. The last one I missed on e-bay went for about 70.00 new in the Ford package. I guess we are talking about the same thing.. If not you are talking about something else..
Silverrv, we're talking about the same thing, I'm must trying to clear up the terminology since it is misused on this website and others all the time. A lot of folks call it the CPS, but Ford calls it the "CMP sensor" and International calls it the "CAMP sensor." If you asked either to look up "CPS" in their computer nothing would come up.
