This is an EAM motor, guessing 1954. It has a Ford plate on the front of the block that calls it that type and a serial number, not a rebuild plate. I am sure this is a 317 but what is the type telling me. Does not seem to have ever been apart. Had a huge airplane prop on it.
Acually I am running one of these. I am just interested in the type on the plate on the engine. This engine probably has less then 120 hours on it. The pressure plate has never been depressed. I am talking almost new and very dirty. I was just looking for an answer, did not figure anyone on the sight would have any idea, but it is worth a try. Anyone needing parts for one of these 317 truck engines I know where there is some stock stuff. If any one figures this out please let me know. Thanks
Lincoln y-block, mostly a paperweight these days due to the impossible parts situation. Home
I disagree with that assessment.
While not as cheap to rebuild as a small block chevy, you can get most all the parts you might need at Napa or if wanted evil bay. Gasket kit cost me $100, if needed I could have bought all new internals, rings pistons bearings etc. I even bought a new oil pump, to match the drive on my aftermarket distributor. I will say though that "speed" equipment is hard to come by. But a good running Lincoln y block doesn't need much. Get a better cam, carb, later year four barrel carb, get rid of the oem distributor, (a ford y block dizzy will work) and your pretty much good to go with loads of torque...
