Engine Number ?
Engine Number ?
Hi guys , did these early Y blocks get issued actual engine numbers , have found a number adjacent the thermastat housing which reads :
13359 ERAS
Hav'nt checked / looked at the actual block markings yet , but does the above actually mean anything ?
Cheers
Greg
Ps, My Vin has been decoded to indicate a 239 V8 was the original motor , 53 F100

That number you mention doesn't ring any bells....
If you really have a genuine truck 239, it will have EBV on the left side of the block.
You can view an entire listing of Y-block numbers at the following site.
TECHNICAL
Oh, and a 1953 model should be a flathead engine. The 239 OHV wasn't in the trucks until 1955 so if you have a "real" 239 in your 53, someone might have swapped it out....
If it's EBU it may be a car 239 Click here=========> http://ford-y-block.com/Block%20identification.htm
