engine numbers
Good Morning All,., I have found a plate on my motor and need to figure out what motor it is year and model. The numbers are on a plate it says ,"Manufactured for General Motors In USA"

Serial number 5542671s/c 763-
NPK1522E3
I am in the uk so any uk links would be very helpfull..Thanks

I googled that part number and it came back as a GM steering rack. Is the plate just mounted to a bolt on the engine? Pete'd right, we need to know what brand and model engine you have. All engines for the last 40 years have a serial number stamped on the block itself, on V8's it's usually on whichever bank is further forward on the block deck surface.

Its a 49 F1 with a summit V8. the only numbers i can find actually on the block are from inside the truck on the right side of the engine block just above the sump from underneath it looks like 088.the tag that i got the other numbers from looks like it is riveted to the block.
