DVM with tach

Hey can anyone provide a walk through for using a cen-tech digital meter with inductive ( clamp) tach. I don't understand how to check my RPM's accurately or what math if any will be needed. I have a manual for the meter but it does not offer any TACH instructions.

Do you have a model number? I don't have that meter, and found several instruction downloads on the internet, but after downloading one that didn't even have a tach function, I am going to wait and see if you have a model number.

it is a Cen-Tech 95670. I have the manual off the harbor freight page but it doesn't have any instructions for checking RPM's for some reason.

Hook the clamp up around one of the sparkplug wires and set the meter to the proper number of cylinders. What do you get with the engine idling?

There seems to be some controversy over the tach function of this meter on the web, so if you want to experiment a little bit, maybe we can get it working.
