1985 f150 HELP! Fuel problems. DATA LINK HELP TOO

okay so first thing here is i would really like it if someone would tell me how to form a data link to turn on both my fuel pumps until it is unhooked. i was told by my uncle i could do this but he couldnt expeplain it over the phone... heres the story leading up to this point. i had been driving down a verry bummpy dirt road to the lake it i turned off onto the lake and made it about 200 feet to my dads camper turned it off and came back later to go pick a guy up who was working on his car on the other side. it started ran fine drove about 300 feet then it started ******* BAD and it was starved for fuel you could tell. i made it by push back to my site i had had problems with my high pressure fuel pump before but blew it out and got it working. the one in the tank is 4 months old. so i decided it had to be the front high pressure pump. now the fuel line set up for this 85 is shown in a book as being out of a 87-89 ford just like the fuel injected enjine so i droped the line on the front of the high presssure pump that leads to the front of the engine it should be 45 psi i beleve. it was pitiful absoulutly nothing it was bad it would drible out when trying to pump so i went back thinking okay. i might as well look in the resivour under the cab and to my astonishement it was almost dry. it wasnt leaking eather. so the back pump wont turn on. its brand new basicly and i decided it could be a cloged line. i blew the lines out after i took them off Nohting. so i hooked them up and back blew through to the tank it still wont even humm so i thought maybe the fuel shut off switch got triggerd on the dirt road and it only turns the back off. i located and reset it to no help i dont want to drop the tank becuse it is full and i dont know how to check the relays or which one is for what. and i heard of the data link and that i could overide everything and run the pumps if the back one doesnt run than ill try to check power to the it and if there is then ill have to drop the tank. but first i want to try this data link can anyone show me how to with pictures or atleast detailed information? im 14 this is my first vehical and im doing all i know and not helping. im learning as i go so any ideas would be greatly aprisiated.

In this link you will see a plug and it has a port labeled "fuel pump". If you take a wire and ground this terminal, it will make the fuel pumps run.
Fuel Injection Technical Library » How To Run a Self-Test

Problem is, you are only bypassing the computer. Grounding that terminal activates the fuel pump relay, and then power has to go through the kill switch you reset and everything else. So it really doesn't bypass much.
