Heater Fan Speed Switch

Hello, thanks for viewing this post.

I have a 2004 Excursion with front heater/AC fan (blower) speed control problem. Most internet help regarding this problem all point to the blower motor resistor assembly. I removed and tested this resistor assembly and found no problem with the three resistors/thermal protector/connector and wiring harness. The videos I've seen all show a rusty, corroded resistor assembly. Mine looks brand new and tests that way.

I now need to remove and test the manual fan speed control switch but haven't found any help in "how to remove" this switch. Fan runs at lowest speed and at highest speed, thus indicating blower motor is okay. Speed stays the same for 2nd & 3rd positions.

Searching everwhere I know I came up empty. I don't know how to remove the dash plastic to gain access to the switch.

I have a pretty good ideal of what the circuit wiring is - - but haven't found a readable schematic. Schematic on Google images is very fuzzy and not so readable.

Can anyone ponit me to a useable schematic ???

This switch has 4 speed settings. My fan runs on lowest (1st) setting, then speeds up on next higher (2nd) setting and then DOES NOT speed up on 3rd position, and speeds up on 4th position.

How do you remove the dash board plastic assembly and thus get access to the switch.

Also own a 1999 Ford Explorer ( with exact same switch) and it's fan speed increases with each position of the switch.

Any help what-so-ever would be appreciated.

Thanks for your help,
