Looking to replace the seals inside of one of my return lines. I had a heck of a time getting it apart, finally after taking heat gun to the line it came apart, the O-rings are now dried up, hard and brittle.
Does anyone know where these can be had.. I do know that Ford put a ton of effort into the specs (composition) of these and I want to replace with the right stuff. I also know Dorman has a kit available, also when I do internet search I also come up with Ac Delco part #'s 217-3365 & 2173366.
Can any shed a little light on this ? The lines are off the truck, they will not be re-installed for quite some time, as stated above I just want to do it right
Several ways to go. The best o-rings for this application are made of Viton. Viton is a filled Teflon material impervious to fuel. If you can determine the correct size, they can be ordered from MSC Corp., an industrial maintenance supplier. A good Ford Parts guy could likely tell you the sizes, if he really wanted to find out.
Standard O-rings, commonly found everywhere, are made of Buna-N, a nitrile synthetic rubber incompatible with gasoline; it swells, becomes soft, and will fail quickly in such service. You don't want a f..king gasoline fire!
The Ford supplied O-rings are likely made of P.A., Polyacrylic rubber. Do not use O-rings specified for A/C systems!
You could also use P.A. if size known, and order if Viton not available. impish
