suspension

I have a 2001 F350 crew cab 4x4 Srw 8 ft. Every bit of my suspension is worn. Looking to get a smooth ride but ride like it's riding on rails. I'm on a budget. I rarely pull trailers and 95% of my driving is all interstate. Any help would be greatly appreciated .

You can get as nice a ride as you can afford. If parts are worn, they either need to be replaced or upgraded. You might start with the shocks as a cheap intro.

What kind of budget you you looking at?

Able to do piece by piece a little better than stock for now. I have access to a hyd. press and have replaced the sway bar end link bushings with energy suspension bushings. It's at stick height but the rears sits alot higher than the front. The only thing I know for sure is ok gonna go with nitto dura grappler tires, I heard the work great for highway . Maybe lift the front end 2" and a airbag system for the rear but this it's my first PSD or truck for that matter. I have always owned Camaros

Higher in the rear is normal. It's made that way so when you load it heavy it doesn't point the nose sky high like the new trucks do. Airbags in the back won't help the ride get softer, but they will help with load leveling.

Sounds to me like you should start with shocks. Then check your ball joints and make sure they don't need replacement. After that look into your front springs and decide if a normal leveling kit or front spring replacement would serve you better.

But your truck will never ride like your camaro.

Now I have a starting point. I have the rancho 5000 series shocks right now but they're not really that good i guess for that truck. I don't want to walk into a shop before i know what I want, the 4 wheel parts shops around here just want to sell you the most extensive stuff always.for example i walked in to buy a 4"turbo back exhaust and they tried to sell me tires rims lights step bars. To the point where i had the get really stern with then DI style. Thank you again Devil Dog

I made a recent discovery: The rear suspension can introduce all kinds of nasty stuff all the way up the spine of the truck. As a free thing, try torqueing your rear axle U-bolts and see what that does for you. Our spring bushings are aging and replacing those with poly is heavy work, but not expensive. Those two items can at least get the drivetrain calmed down, then it's troubleshoot the rest (as you can afford).

The truck is 8,000 pounds (fuel and passengers), engineered to haul or tow up to another 12,000 pounds. Dropping 1000 pounds in the bed will give you a better ride. How about a canopy and a mother-in-law in a muumuu?

I'll check that out as well. I get alot of body roll? Will larger sway work on such a front heavy truck? Is buying the energy suspension kit for my Frick even worth it

Update on my suspension front leaf springs where worn out so being that Ford wanted 400 plus tax for just the leaf springs. I went to 4 wheel parts and picked up the 2 inch lift kit for 535 tax included and installed in about 6 hours a little difficult to get to the front leaf bolts but got it done. A world of difference!

Remove 4 bolts to take the front bumper off and it's easy access to the front spring eye bolt.

good thread... was just about to make one also.

it looks like i need to do shocks / bushings / leaf springs

i bought a 3" lift blocks kit that i want to install , what shocks should i go for ?? would it require a certain type if i do the lift kit ? or are there shocks that i can install that would lift it even more ? the rear has a 3" liftkit already. sorry for busting in on your thread OP

Pro comp lift kit and not sure about shocks to certain lift kits, bit they made sure that I had the 4 inch block in the rear to keep it an inch higher than the front
