All of the patch panels I have been able to find are just straight louvered panels. Does anybody make one for the rear of the bed around the bolt where it changes shape? One side of mine has holes popping through around that body mount and I was hoping to find a panel. Its pretty impossible to find a bed down here in florida that isn't rough shape or I would just cut a piece out of one in a junk yard...
I think he is talking about the bed floor. and as far as I know all the aftermarket replacement floors do not have the flattened bolt area stamped in them. just the ribs or louvers as you referred to it straight back. at least that was how the aftermarket bed was that used to be on my 78 150 when I got it.
March hit the nail on the head. It's the bed floor around the rear mount bolt. My apologies for not being clear. As far as I can tell mine was probably rusted out due to lack of cleaning dirt and mud from around the mount. I haven't had much luck finding any of these trucks worth pulling parts off around here. Either way this donor beds a lot more solid than the one currently falling off my truck lol
A suggestion... go ahead and buy the louvered panel. Cut out the area that needs to be flat. Tack weld in a flat piece of steel. Slit the top corners of the louvers and fold down to the flat piece. Weld it solid. If you pre-clean the weld areas to steel, coat with weld through primer and seal well after it should last a ling time and look decent.
