can anyone tell me what kind of hp a 74 fe390 makes, edelbrock 700 cfm?? compared to a 60's version? it came out of a 79 f150. was 4 spd truck. but was not original drivetrain.. casting number on block is D4TE i believe.
Most of the 300's of the 1960's with a stock 4bbl carb ran 300hp rating. The Fairlanes GT's in 66 and 67 had 335hp. the 1960's 390's with 2bbls ran about 290hp.
The D4 number you give would be in for a 1974. I'm not should of HP ratings on the later engines
I was told it was rebuilt at a local speed shop, so if i did a compression test, and got numbers in each cylinder of 180 psi, would it be safe to assume its not a stock 74 spec motor?
