is that cheap for a HPFP replacement? i always thought it was more?
It typically is more, but Scott didn't have a true HPFP failure. The volume control valve and pressure control valve are both non-serviceable parts of the HPFP. So when the valve fails you replace the HPFP, but since the pump didn't fail and send metal shrapnel through the system you don't need to replace anything else.
If the pump failed it would have been far more, as it would require all 8 injectors, fuel rails, lines, and fittings.

Yup..in Fact I drove it to the dealer...after I drove to a campground and dropped the trailer. I would not have done so if it was a other failure.
I would have loved to tear that thing apart but they had to send it in for the core.
I'm not one to commit on the reliability of the new emission diesels....as I have had awesome luck with my 2010 6.4....after a not so good experience with my 6.0 but when Senix has a failure.....makes you think!...might have to trade n my fifth wheel...4 a bumper pull .... by a gasser....:-(

I'll try not to have another...how's that!
Actually it was not bad as I could clear the code. Unloaded it would not throw the code at all.
