There is no metal throughout the system.

My gut say VCV is the main issue. An Airdog or anthing else for that matter would not prevent that.

At any rate it should be up and running by COB tomorrow.

I am using the GEICO MBI insurance to pay for the repairs. so I am out 250 bucks plus my time at the campground here.

So all in all it could have been worst.

Won't be a totally ruined vacation just had to cut a couple of days out of it.
What's GEICO MBI insurance?
Warranty repair

Well got her back today at 1145 and hooked up the trailer and hit the road at 1210. We are now in close to little rock Arkansas.

Truck runs just like it used to and no ill effects.

I will throw up a parts list when I get the chance. All in all I am pleased with the work.

Air bags, CCV mod, Banks and speedbrake all hooked up as before by the tech.

The morning after the overnight cool down will tell all.

I figure it was a wash in cost for everything except the rental car. So I am in the hole 223 bucks I guess.

We are home now. All in all it was a good time. Truck runs great with no further issues. I think the tech did a great job. My combined was at or near 24K so she was a working.

I have no idea...but probably was lower since I didn't have a water issue but a true part failure

It typically is more, but Scott didn't have a true HPFP failure. The volume control valve and pressure control valve are both non-serviceable parts of the HPFP. So when the valve fails you replace the HPFP, but since the pump didn't fail and send metal shrapnel through the system you don't need to replace anything else.

If the pump failed it would have been far more, as it would require all 8 injectors, fuel rails, lines, and fittings.

Yup..in Fact I drove it to the dealer...after I drove to a campground and dropped the trailer. I would not have done so if it was a other failure.

I would have loved to tear that thing apart but they had to send it in for the core.

I'll try not to have another...how's that!

Actually it was not bad as I could clear the code. Unloaded it would not throw the code at all.
