i am getting ready to buy some carpet for my truck ,, i found some ,, its column shift that's ok i can cut for it ,, its 122 plus shipping ,, is that too cheap ?? right now someone has used carpet from lowes or something real thin ,, what do you think ??
I used an area rug from Walmart. Black loop, looks the same to me.....
Probably not as good as auto carpet, seems to be holding up so far, but even if it lasts a couple years that's OK with me
I did the same as Scott. I bought the big one and may be able to redo it with left overs. I needed to make my truck look better before I made it look good. I got to drive it and figure out what to do before I spent a lot doing it.
lilrobo, it's not perfect but it starts forming in with some time. When I did mine I pulled the heater and defroster off floorboard/firewall and ran it under those. I also installed new defroster ducts (napa had them). I'm going to be pulling it all down again then I'll paint unit and look for moisture on floorboards. For like $20 it was a good place to start. As I said before, your truck is a lot nicer than mine and I have to take baby steps to get it done, but I do not want to commit the mistake of making it not drivable during nice weather.
I'd first check with a couple auto upholstery shops and get a quote on making custom fitted carpet with bound edges. You might be surprised at the price, especially if the shop has a large enough remnant of the right color on hand, They can also insert rubber heel wear pads under the pedals and access flaps for the battery and MC for you.
I did several rigs by having the girls go dumpster diving at the giant carpet store. They would come home with lots of big chunks that was plenty to do a truck in one piece. Or a car in two. And best of all it was free and clean and new.
I used loop carpet from ACC. It is cut custom for your cab all bound and ready to go. You have to cut your own holes for shifter and pedals but other than that it fits and they give you enough carpet to do the whole cab, even if you moved the gas tank out of the cab. I bought it directly from their web site, If you know or are a SEMA member they will normally give out a discount code at the show. If you know the code you can't beat there pricing. Also a word of caution, drill bits and loop carpet don't mix. If the fiber catches on the bit it will ruin your day. ACC: your authority for custom automotive carpet, floor mats, and more
