ok problem is better but not 100% right
here's what i did
1. took the stock mechanical pump out of the loop . = no change
2. took the 3 way valve for side tanks out of the loop so fuel line is as straight as can be . = better
I can nail the gas in first shift to second at 5k shift to 3rd at 3500 and she boggs ?
last thing i did was buy a new module for my HEI dizzy , figured maybe i fried something when i was welding ? even though i disconnected the battery before welding .
no change
found this googling engine bogs in third gear
going to try these test tomorrow .
So check out that fuel pump. Plumb in a pressure gauge and monitor the fuel pressure. Anything below 3.5 psi on the top end is unacceptable-it indicates the pump or fuel-supply system is not keeping up with the engine's fuel requirements or the fuel filter is clogged or restrictive. A high-flow inline fuel filter is preferred over the restrictive sintered-iron fuel-bowl inlet filters. The fuel line should be at least 3/8 inch or larger; try to keep bends to a minimum.
If fuel pressure is OK, check the pump output volume. A high-perf fuel pump should fill up a 1-gallon bucket in well under a minute. Finally, check the pump's vacuum draw. As read on a vacuum gauge T'd into the fuel line back by the tank sending unit, there should be no less than 13 inches of vacuum. Low vacuum here means the sock, strainer, or screen inside the fuel tank is clogged or has collapsed.
ok here's what i figured out .
Mr gasket 12s electric fuel pump = POS I pulled hose off carb to drain gas using pump . gas trickled out of the 3/8 line like a 70 year old man peeing with a prostate problem .
so i drained tank by using old gravity siphon (suck hose) gas came out faster then pump lol .
fuel starvation is the issue , keeping rpm at 3500 empties the glass fuel filter
so I am ordering a Holley black pump and returning the POS mr gasket one .
I also took the sock off the tank pickup , I read a couple threads saying they are too restrictive.
I was looking at the reviews on the Advanced auto on the electric pumps. Not a lot of positive remarks.I put the Elderbrock electic pump was this and the Holley for me.
FYI... went to a GoodGuys show in Pleasanton CA on Saturday and spied a customized 69 F100. In any case, here's the owner's solution for filling the rear-mounted fuel tank. The frame was notched and boxed to accommodate the tubing to the tank.
Here's how I did mine. Fill up tube is well protected.
Use your truck like a truck, don't worry about hitting the fill up tube.

My camper special had both tanks from the factory. PO removed in cab tank and the switch valve years ago. He put the hose that leaked air there to bypass the valve. I found it by blowing air into fuel line by the mechanical pump. Then heard air and gas dribbling out.

Mike. Good Sherlok Holmes work.
