Edge evolution CTS?

Who has bought the CS or CTS evolution? Did you like it? I just purchased an 09 CC LB 6.4 and also purchased the extended warantee so no deletes forseen in the future. I like the CTS simply because I can taylor the screen and I get to keep my grab handle lol... Thanks for the input.

I don't know anything about Edge products, but Most tuners do flash the PCM which WILL leave a foot print. I know Banks is an "in line" tuner so it doesn't flash the PCM.

Please educate me on these Edge tuners. Both have cited "Warranty and No Delete." What is it about Edge that leads you to believe that not deleting will prevent warranty denial?

The CTS is READ ONLY ,It's just a gauge package, It has NO ability to add power by it self!!! It's NOT a TUNER!!! Gary

Interesting because this page says it has 4 power levels.

http://www.edgeproducts.com/product.php?pk=124&pvk=347

Not to mention that it says its not for street use in CA. Why would gauges be not allowed in CA?

Ok my bad edge has two cts units one is evolution and the other is insight.you are correct that the evolution can add power. The insight can not add power its a gauge pack only.

That makes more sense. Thanks for helping me clarify.

Just a little more info on the Edge units. Until recently the Edge evolution was a DPF delete capable tuner with a number of different HP options. The older versions had a black and grey screen and newer CTS units had color.

About a year ago the EPA forced Edge into an agreement to cease making DPF delete capable tuners. They also fined them a bunch of money and made them offer to buy back any tuners that the owners wanted to sell back for full sales price.

Now, the new Edge CTS tuners are "street" tuners. Which I think means that they claim to increase performance without removing the DPF. Which is like trying to run a faster 100 yard dash with a sock in your mouth. But they do modify the tuning which would probably void the warranty.

And as said above the Edge insight is just gauges.

I have one and I think they are great.

Especially the rear camrea but I use it to hook up a horse 5th wheel trailer since I already have the back up camera.

I don't like the CTS tunes but the monitoring is awesome and looks good with the mounting plate you can order from everwhere for around $40.

I purchaserd a SCT and had some custom tunes developed for me.

I like there CTS EDGE as there are no push buttons and several that have them today seem too old school on a 2010 truck.

Hope my info was helpful.

I thought I would give a quick update. I did purchase a Evolution CTS and so far I love it. The power levels and the tun is very generic and I am sure a custom tune would give more power but I was mainly wanting a nice looking guage cluster and possibly some extra fuel economy.

Without the tuner I would see 30 psi at part throttle but with the tuner I see far less boost early in the pedal. There are a few features I really like, I can monitor my regen cycles and the CTS tells me when regen is on and off. I thought that was pretty cool.

FYI:

Just bought a 2000 Excursion 4x4 7.3 with 223000 miles. It's completely stock and has never been modified. I'm also considering buying the Edge CTS or a similar unit . I going use my Excursion to haul my toy-hauler (ball hitch-3 axle 36 Ft) & classic muscle cars to shows.

Any comments, suggestions or recommendations???? Anyone???

The Edge is a nice unit but I feel there are better programmers on the market (performance wise). I mainly bought the CTS for the gauges. I know SCT makes some killer tunes for the 7.3, there are many shops that will sell you custom tunes to install on your SCT flash programmer.

You would probably get a lot more info on the 7.3L forum. I've been gone from there for 5 years. Weren't a lot of tuners in use there. The truck computers wern't that advanced I guess. standard stuff was a 4 inch turbo back exhaust and a big ole intake filter that had a NAPA part number, can't recall what it was. And then some of the guys upgraded the turbo and changed injectors. But, properly maintained that engine will give you 4 or 500 thousand miles and it shuld tow a couple muscle cars with ease. I'm not sure I'd want to mod it much. I mean no offense but when you get done it's still gonna be in an Excursion. LOL
