In conclusion... Clyde lives again!!
Dropped the carb on, new float installed, and th truck fired up and purred like a kitten! Made a few very minor tweaks while i had the vacuum gauge hooked up, and closed the hood, went out for a drive. Runs smooth, and im very happy to have my truck back!
Coincidentally, i also picked up another 1 barrel Carter today off an 80 F150, for $10.

After it is rebuilt you might put it on to prove it is "right". And then either leave it on or put the other one back - just make sure to completely drain whichever one is going into storage. Maybe even pull the cover and wipe it down inside.
