My goal here to eliminate the bed bouncing is to replace the bolts responsible, and since they are too rusted to be doing anything with other than grinding the heads off and knocking them through, replacement is my only option. Fine by me, will make the job quicker anyways!
My question is simple: Does anyone know the length and diameter I will need? I'm fairly certain about 9" long should do the trick but I have no way to tell or measure the diameter. I really only need the two on the right side in the middle and front, but I will likely go ahead and just get all six for good measure.
I do not need the "proper" bed bolts, and nothing rounded is necessary since I have a nice bedliner. Just standard bolts.
Also, what grade is best? Stainless steel preferable? I would only assume...
Eliminating this bed bounce will also allow me to listen easier and chase down the other rattles in this thing
Awesome, thanks! So add another 3", plus another 1/2 to be safe, throw in some good lock washers, and done
Going to need a new grinder first though, my old one died on me, and the day I do the bed bolts I will be doing new rear spring shackles and hangars, too
