Another buyer's question

Hello all, quick couple of questions, i have done some researching on the 6.0, heard all the usual horror stories, also have read all the fixes and bulletproofing of them. Some of the most common things i have heard are:
Head Gaskets
Injectors
Turbo

And those are the only ones i have really become concerned with, as i beliece they all require the cab to be removed, now most of the time i know people will just remove the cab and stud them when they buy the truck, but i can't just pull the cab, stud them, slap all 8 new injectors and a brand new turbo on.
My question i guess would be, for a guy the works in a shop, has access to a lift, tools, anything i need really, what do i really need to be concerned with, pulling the cab for studs is not a problem, but i don't want to have to pull the cab 3 more times when a few injectors go out, turbo blows up, etc. etc. I'm really trying to get it in my head that these 6.0's aren't ALL that bad haha, but it's just really hard considering the price of all the parts, not to mention the work to even do it yourself.
What kind of money am i looking at JUST IN PARTS, right after i buy a truck? How long have some sets of injectors laster without problem and whats the most common time for them to go out, anyone had experience with turbos going out often? Just looking fro some more info!

You don't need to remove the cab to do any of the work you mentioned. Your best is to find an 05-07 with low miles, get yourself a set of gauges to keep an eye on things, recommended gauges are as follows, scan gauge II or one of the smartphone apps like dashboss for IOS devices or torque for android or Edge insight CTS on the more expensive side but has some really cool upgrade abilities. keep up on your maintenance, use only OEM/racor oil and fuel filters and OEM oil filter cap and OEM air filter and just drive and enjoy the new truck. You don't need to stud it and do all that stuff right out of the gate unless you want to run a big tune on it. There is some great info in the tech folder on what to look for when you are buying your first 6.0L so you can make an informed decision. In fact the first sticky at the top of the forum is the link to buying a used 6.0L.

I'm new to Diesels, just bought my truck last month. I haven't had to replace anything major yet and I've driven over 2000 miles. It runs like a champ. Had a couple of small issues in the beginning. HFCM leaking from the bleeder screw and my air filter housing was cracked. Knock on wood, it's a great truck thus far.

Those horror stories are just that. Horror stories. Imagine how many trucks are on the road that people are satisfied with? This forum is for people with problems, not people who love their truck and just want to talk about it. So you'll see more problems when you're reading here. That's what I think and that's why I went ahead and bought mine. If you get a truck that the owner didn't take care of, rarely did oil changes and just drove it like he stole it, then you will probably have more issues. If you buy it from a guy who was meticulous with maintenance then you'll probably get a good truck. Just remember the ScanGauge II or Torque App and don't rush it.

Also, many sellers are getting out from under a car when they sell it because of problems. Not just the 6.0, but MANY people have major issues and don' mind pushing them off on someone else. Be meticulous in looking the vehicle over.

Bought my 6.0 F 350 a year ago and put a little over 10,000 miles on it. It had 116,000 when I got it. Only thing I have done was routine maintenance ie oil changes, coolant flush with coolant filter and fuel filter changes. I did have to have the FICM rebuilt by Ed at ficmrepair.com this past feb. If I had the scan gauge when I first bought the truck I might have been able to save the FICM from going out with weak batteries. Basically all I'm saying is what 99expyproblems is saying. There are good and there are bad out there. It kinda depends on how the last person took care of it and how you will from here on out.
