Exclamation 2001 7.3L having 'chugging' problems

2001 7.3L is having 'chugging' problems when the rpm's drop back down to idle position after going 60 mph for 15 miles or so. Almost feels like its starving for fuel... I shut it off and fire it right back up and the problems is fixed until I travel at high speeds again. Also has died twice on me while its been running in idle park position. Any insight on possible causes would be greatly appreciated!

mine wasn't quite chugging but it was noticeably down on power. i had been running...um...fuel out of the deere. i replaced the filter on top but only a marginal improvement. then remembered some kind of "hutch mod" pick up pipe screen thing- i obviously i haven't the slightest idea what that is- but i remembered the part about the multiple screens. i cleaned them. much better now.

this doesn't cost a thing but- time
