Silly Question

It may sound silly, but I haven't really been able to find an answer yet. I have a 2002 F250 (7.3). There is no PATS on it. Recently, someone tried to make it theirs during the middle of the night. It got me thinking - besides honking the horn and flashing the running lights, what exactly does the 2nd press of the key FOB's lock button do? I put an alarm on my old F150 years ago and the 2nd press actually set the alarm. This, obviously, isn't the case with the 250.

And does anyone know of a decent alarm for these trucks? Just looking for a basic alarm that will lock/unlock the doors and disable the starter. My 150 had a fancy system with all the bells and whistles (most of them anyways) but most of them were just to show off. I just want to stop the bad guy, now.

Not sure about alarms, but i think the second push of your key fob only alerts you that the truck is locked.

That was my thought, farmboy. I suppose an alarm is definitely in order.

If you have some minimal electrical skills, this might interest you...
SpringerPop's Disabler

All three of my trucks have this feature now....so when I double press the key fob the lights blink, the horn sounds and the disabler is set. If anyone tries to steal any of my trucks then they are going to need to bring a bigger truck.

I had checked that out a few months back, Greg. Looks pretty interesting - maybe exactly what I'm after. I think I'm going to look back into it.

Lol! I've lost the bet the past 2 times, Hotpocket. I'm kind of use to it now - even have my Texans shirt cleaned and ready for FB postings after the games. But today, my friend, will be different!

Yeah, Alan, our usually dependable Moore let us down. But this just means we'll have to take you down in the playoffs...
