Had a small distraction tonight.....I will be replacing a tub with a new shower for my landlord this weekend. His wife is having trouble walking as she is recovering from a broken tail bone. He will be paying me 500.00 bucks for the job so just a few days delay is worth it because I still need intercooler pipes and a few other things for the swap. I did get the cherry picker after work tonight and my turbo will be here next week... I'm sneaking in a fishing trip at 5 am tomorrow with my wife on the Skagit river the pink salmon are running....

Your build is coming along nicely! The way you built the engine is pretty unique on an idi. I'm kind of curious how well the engine would last with those mods and revving to 4K. I would love to test that sometime in something lighter like a Bronco. Also I think that Hx40 will be prefect with your build. It will be interesting to see it.

The IP still has the stock 3800 RPM governor (I Think) I will find out when I get it hooked up to the tack. I have ran the engine on my water filled tester until the engine was real warm. about 15 mins with one 3/8 hose running back into the water pipe at the top, It didn't open the tstat that I saw or boil over or anything like that but is was hot enough that I couldn't hold my hand on the return to the water pump. My oil pressure (Hot) Idle is about 25lbs, when you bring up the RPM the pressure goes right up to 50 then up to 70 But when I hold the throttle up the rubber band on the water pump starts to fly around like its going to fly off. so I back it down. When I start the engine cold on high Idle and advance its just springs to life with only a little gray smoke for a few seconds. I went fishing both mornings at 5:00am this weekend and worked from 12:00 till 7:00pm on the Tub/shower job. Had 3 fish on both days but couldn't land any of them. Got two close to the boat but they rolled out the hook before I could net them. Darn it.....Should have the shower done the middle of the week, need time for the sheet rock mud to dry. So many things to do, so little time...

OK, got the side job done this weekend now its all MH every evening until Friday all day. I put in for Friday off to go camping with the Wife. Her new job wont let here off so we will go Saturday morning until Sunday afternoon so I will have all day Friday and all day Monday to work on the MH. My Turbo came on Friday. Its a HX40w T3 18cm2. I really wanted a T4 16 but I got a smoking good deal on this True Holset turbo....So now I will use a adaptor to make it fit my mount. I will get pic's of it up very soon. OK Got some pics up tonight after working on removing the engine. most things went as planed. I need to rent a trany jack next to be able to handle the weight of the Allison safely. this bad boy is heavy...I got all the wiring figured out as we removed the old gauge sensors and switches from the 8.2. I will need to move the starter cables to the drivers side for the IDI. The down pipe will need to be replaced also its got a weird size for the schwitzer Turbo so I will get a down pipe for the HX40w 4" outlet. Check out my Flikr page. OK Got the Trans jack tonight from Consumer Rental. My Brother and I will get to work in the morning. We will try to get the Allison off and remove the 8.2 and modify the mounts to fit the 7.3 and put it into place. Hopefully it won't be raining...September in WA state means off with the warm rain and on to the cold rain...with Gray sky's in between...Got some pic's of my used HX40w up on my flickr Flickr: racer30sprint's Photostream

Got the 8.2 out and loaded on my little trailer. tomorrow we will modify the engine mounts to fit the 7.3 and fit it into the MH and hang the trans on it. It took longer than I thought to get the engine mounts unbolted. All the bolts where fine tread with lock nuts and came off hard all the way. My little air compressor won't run my big gun more than 10 seconds so all the big lock nuts had to be done with a 3/4 drive ratchet with 15/16 socket and a end wrench, also turning the engine to get the converter bolts was a pain. Put up some more pics....Flickr: racer30sprint's Photostream

Ok Got the IDI in on the rear mounts and the trany bolted to it. Mounting the Allison was the only thing that went smoothly...every other thing that could go wrong did. I now need to build another exhaust system for my Turbo. But now that engine is in the hard part is done, all the rest is easy compared to the two day swap of just the engine. I am so happy it's in I'm sure I will sleep good tonight....more pics up on my flickr
