Another alt. bites the dust

Today my 6.8L stalled just after I shifted into reverse on a cold start. OD lite started flashing, plus CEL and I knew exactly the problem. Cleared code, restarted and measured alt. output. 12.1V with AC's on max cool. I drove to Oreilly's and found a bad diode, only 30 amp output. I ordered a "NEW", not remanf. 130 amp unit. from Alternatorpros.com for $135 del.to my door in 3 days with a 2yr. warranty. Much better than O or AZ.

This is going around. I've got my "new" alternator, new pos and neg battery cables sitting in my truck. Just waiting on picking up my new battery and my new alternator wire assembly to come in. Batt cables have been hacked by po and alt assembly is very bad dry rotted and missing about 3in of sheathing. My dealer only found 3 in the while US.

I am going to add another #4 cable from alt. to batt to handle the new amperage load., I notice the insulation burnt at/near the alt connection.

That is right where mine is cracking and flaking off. I guess the heat from the intake manifold dried out the rubber sheathing on the wire.

I picked it up today. $61.50 and that included shipping from Utah. Part number is yc3z14305aa. That is for my 2000 v10.

My dealer found mine in Reno, nv. Tousley said to check Royal Oak in MI. There r not that many left in the US. Here is their email to me, "I am not able to get this part. However, there is one dealer who shows to have this lamp, whom you may want to contact. Royal Oak Ford Mchigan (248) 544-6595 "

Well went to install all my new stuff and found out I received part number 7c3z14305aa not yc3z14305aa. So I put heat shrink on my original harness to get me by for now. Going back to the dealer Monday to see if he can find the correct part. If not, I guess my original one will have to do.

Picked up the X today and he rebuilt the alternator end of the harness. Tech said the connection inside the alt. was fried. Total install of my part was $160. New alt was $136.
