because Motorcraft is god around here. There were lots of ****ty results from aftermarket filters being used and damaging engines due to the fact that they blocked the bypass or something like that. I won't won't pretend to be an expert. Therefore the general rule of thumb is not to skimp on a 16 dollar filter that could potential save you heart ache down the road.
Okay, I needed to hear something like this. Sorry I was so thick-headed! Just making sure!
Not a fan boy at all bud, my truck is far from stock. It's a well known and proven fact motorcraft fuel and oil filters are the only ones you should use. If its designed for my truck and hasn't changed for 10+ years, I'm using it. Use whatever you want on yours, let us know the results. Time to unsubscribe
Not at all, granted my truck is a 7.3 but it has been serviced exclusively with motorcraft filters. I'm at 293,000 miles and have my stock trans and stock motor. I have also used Baldwin since they are pretty much MC's exact spec. Why change what works?
While we're on this subject, do you guys prefer Rotella T6 or Delo 400 LE 5W-40? I used to only use Rotella in our old 7.3, but that was primarily because I could only ever really get Rotella. Now that our Walmart stocks them both so reliably I'm wondering if one is better than the other. I have heard mumblings of Delo having a better additive pack than Rotella.
The thing about 6.0 oil filters is the patents. There is a reason that no one makes a direct interchange, other than Racor, the manufacturer. The patents have not expired yet. If you want to save money, just buy the Racor online or at your International dealer.
I tried to dig up some information and I read that it will start out as a Canadian product.
Some US locations received some the end of December 2012. As far as I know Colorado was not allocated any, but should be able to order this coming Fall. My local contact is Team Petroleum in Fort Collins, Colorado.
This was my correspondance with Shell the end of January:
Hello Josh,
Looks like there are plans to introduce the Rotella T6 0W-40 in alimited number of markets in the coldest areas of the northern US. I was not able to determine if it would be in CO; however it should be obtainable from a distributor when introduced into the US market.
Best regards,
Keith

Another forum member was able to purchase some in Northern Nevada about February.
I just hope Shell doesn't price the stuff like liquid gold.
