On another topic, did anyone have a problem reporting a successful update back to Ford? I can't seem to get that to work. I updated to the latest version of Java as Ford suggested and have tried to do the report on 2 different computers, both with the same result, a pop-up that says "unsuccessful upload".
I downloaded the Sync update onto a flash drive and it took 30 minutes to load into the system. I was unable to report the update back to Ford, tried numerous times with no luck. I did notice a new feature that didn't come with my '13 system - I now have a internet/WI-FI feature. I don't know if this is a useful feature though. Anybody used it?
Well I did the update a couple of weeks ago. Playing with the Nav I discovered that voice commands for Navagation -> Destination -> POI -> Near By -> By Catagory does not work. The Catagories shows up on the screen but I cannot access them with voice commands. I can next page and previous page the catagories by voice command. I can access the POI Catagories manually thru the touch screen when stopped, but I have to stop which defeat the purpose of the voice commands!

I saw the WI-FI feature - Since I park close enough to my office to get my wi-fi outdoors I tried to sign on to see what might happen... It asked for my password and I typed it in - but I have an 11 character PW. Sync only would let me type 10 characters so I couldn't complete it......
I tried a couple of times - same thing - so I blew it off.....
Well, I let it run for 15 minutes then took it for a 4 mile ride. Same results. A pop-up screen that tells me I need at least 200 miles before it can run the report. I guess I must have gremlins!!
And I just tried again to report the update on the computer. When I get to the second screen and click on the "Update files and report update" button, nothing happens. If, after a couple minutes, a click it again I then get the "Upload unsuccessful" message. And, yes, I get the exact same results on 3 different computers, one running Windows 7 and 2 running Windows 8!!
Just a heads-up, your phone will need to be reconnected with SYNC following the reset. If it seems like the vehicle still won't run a Vehicle Health Report afterwards, your dealership will need to assist you further.

As long as everything else is working I think I'll pass on the reset. If I read it correctly, that will clear all my saved data and go back to factory defaults. Sees like a lot of trouble just to run a health report.

Hi Fear no Hill,
The Wi-Fi functionality is actually intended to be used with either a USB broadband modem or a Bluetooth tethering-enabled smartphone. MyFord touch is able to take a data signal from either compatible devices and create a local Wi-Fi hotspot within the vehicle. The system is able to discover nearby hotspots, but the MyFord Touch system is not currently designed to connect to home or office networks.
As previously mentioned, using the Vehicle Health Report feature accomplishes the same thing as reporting a successful install via the website. Use the voice command VEHICLE HEALTH to do so.

No problem. The Vehicle Health Report is pretty useful in monitoring the condition of your truck in general. If you change your mind and need anything else, please let me know.
When I did my update it wouldn't allow me to report it back to Sync either, but it gave me a 3rd option on my computer to download another file, which I did, then plugged that into my truck and couple minutes later it said it was complete so I plugged it back into my computer and this time it said the report back was successful.
As for the vehicle health report, it worked the first time at like 400 miles, when I have tried it since it says I must have atleast 200 miles on it, I have tried it after driving around town, and I have tried if after driving over 300 miles non-stop and it always gives me the same error message.
When I need to take my truck in for service I will have them look at it but it isn't important enough to make a special trip.
On another note, if you go to www.mapquest.com and you find your location on the map you can send that information to your truck, then you go to your truck and connect to services and it will prompt you that it has received a new destination, when it comes up save it to your favorites. That is how I set up my hunting destinations that don't have an address.
You may already know that but if not it is a great feature since we can't plug in coordinates.

That is cool!
Could you give a little more info on how to send mapquest info to your truck.

Thanks in advance.

So I'm not alone with this issue. Maybe a glitch in the new software??

You don't have anything plugged into your OBDII port do you? My vehicle health report will fail every time if my Edge CTS is plugged in. Having anything plugged into the port seems to interfere with the VHR.

GOOD CALL!! I have a ScanGauge II and after unplugging it the Health Report flawlessly! That's one for the Ford guys to make a note of for the next time this comes up!!
THANKS AGAIN!!
Edited to add...So I went to the Ford web site to look at the Vehicle Health Report it took so long and guess what? You guessed it, I can't get at it. On the web page where you can view the report there are 2 link buttons. One is "View Report" and the other is "Locate a Dealer". Doesn't matter which one I click, they both go the the Locate a Dealer web page and neither will show the report!! Of course I tried it on two computers with the same result.

I do have my CTS plugged in, I will unplug tomorrow and see if it works. Thanks for the tip, never thought of that.
1) plug in the address
2) on the top right had side of the screen you should see "send", click on it
3) select car, select Sync
4) plug in the phone number you have registered to your truck 000-000-0000
5) if you want you can name the destination
6) Now go to your truck and go to Sync and push "connect to services", once it connects it will say a new destination has been sent, do you want to load it? Answer yes and it will pop up on the navigation.
7) At this point you can either put it as an instant destination or save it for use later.
If there isn't an address, camping spot or middle of nowhere:
1) find the location you want, you can do it in map view or on the top right hand side you can select satellite view which may help find remote areas.
2) Once you find the location on the map, right click with the mouse and select to save the location. Once saved go to the send button and click on it to send it to your truck, same as directions 3-7 listed above.
You can only send one location at a time, once you send it you need to connect to services in the truck to download the information to the truck so it can store the location. If the location is in the middle of no where you need to be close enough to a road or trail that it can compute directions.
If you give it a try I think you will find it is pretty easy to do after the first time. I do this over typing in addresses on the GPS because it is easier and faster in my opinion and my camping locations don't have addresses but I can still use the GPS to find them now. Hope this helps, if you have additional questions let me know.
