hey guys, i got a 75 f150 with a 360 and a column shift 3 speed witch i am restoring, i ended up getting a 390 witch will be going in it, and i always wanted a 4 speed, what trans will just bolt up to my engine and into the truck with no problem, or should i just get a floor shift conversion for my 3 speed?
thanks
rob.
If you don't want a 4sp with the granny low gear then get the Ford top loader 4 sp, better than a GM muncie 4 sp. You can then remove the top cover plate, remove the shifting forks and shift rail. Plug the holes they went though and install a top mount shifter . You use one from a 76 to 79 Jeep CJ 7 . It's called a "T-176 '' , that Jeep used a top loader transmission provided by FORD. Modified for a 4x4 transfer and a different set of gears .
They used the 3sp top loader too. I bought a T-150 top shifter for a 3 sp top loader i have . I just picked it up last week and haven't made the conversion yet.
The Shifters are getting hard to get but i did see all of the parts to put together new one for the T-176 4sp.
