03 Compass Calibration Help?
I have tried to compass calibration per. the Owner’s Guide Pg 126, steps 1 – 6. When I get to step 4 “Press the TRIP/RESET button, hold for six seconds” I don’t see the ZONE appear. I have the navigation system, is this tied into the compass, and therefore not need to be calibrated?
Thanks
Jeff

Check P.129 for zone/calibration
Jeff:
Check the next page (P. 129). If you haven't already, it should do the calibration and zone changes as needed. I believe that Ford (in their infinite wisdom) forgot to omit that old calibration method. What I haven't figured out yet is if this also calibrates the Nav system too. Good Luck

You actually have to calibrate the compass? I've never had a problem like that with our truck. I think that I remember reading about driving in circles in a parking lot. I just assumed that someone was off their rocker at ford.
I don't believe it need to be calibrated very often but I change time zones pretty frequently and the zones should be changed for the compass then. The compass on the Nav system hasn't been running the same as the dash compass and the Nav system gets offtrack fairly often so I've been doing some research into it. Coincidently, I got a notice in the mail recently for the new Nav CD's for this 2003 expy. Hmmmm!
