making repro parts
Made a fixture & poured the outside mold today for the '48-'50 heater controls ***** . Will be making the blower motor control switch also . Acquired an NOS switch to pull a mold from . These will be poured right on the cables or else who ever needs singles will need to set up a jig in a drill press , drill **** in center & epoxy to cable . Have a set that I am going to pour on the cables .
Also worked on the fixture to make the gasket for the '48-'50 fresh air tube intake duct / snout . It is 9/16 " on one end & 1/8 " on the other .
Acquired a '48-'50 fresh air heater boot . The first one I have ever seen in 44 yrs. of messing around with these old trucks . Am looking into making one like it . A canvas material w/ an inner wire helix . Main issue is the boot is 4" in dia. on the intake end ( Kick panel ) 12 1/2 " around & at the heater it is 12 3/4 " around . Some 4" canvas hose w/ wire helix will work fine if it can be expanded 1 /4 " Have some on the way . Will give it the muffler machine stretch test . If that doesn't work I can make one out of rubber . Will need to be a 2 part inside buck & the outside will look like the original .
Have finally acquired the necessary materials to make the e-brake cable boots.Had to machine an alum. bushing to insert in the big end of the car boot to make it .480 like the truck e-brake cable boot . Found out that both the car & truck have the same part # 01Y-2597 by accident . I put the pair of truck e-brake cable boots on the 1ST-RIDE . Will keep all posted . Later , Denny
One more thing .How long after you become a paid supporter does it take to have the "supporter" under your avitar & one is able to enjoy enhanced features " pic posting "? Does the mod do it or do I have to ?

Hi Denny, I have one of those trucks with that system, and to me and this boot appears to be a rubber canvas, wire, mix. Of course by now they are stiff and deformed. I think rubber would be better. The canvas / wire combination also in time deteriorates, for a good example was the thermo air cleaner heat control used on Edsels, Mercurys, and Lincolns. Bought a new repro for my Mercury they go square to round and dont fit well. I too have come up with a prototype 53-56 door lock rebuild kits. Biggest problem is beside setup and time, is to be able to make a run that is buyer affordable. And a better design. All know on 53-56's door locks, wiper systems hood hinges are weak points on these. So all I can say is, we are striving for a better afforable product although there are available repros but over priced "in my book" ..

Made a mood from a clean **** Sun..Poured a **** mon. nite .Came out well but need to week the mold some . Casting material picks up the smallest of details . Getting close .If I didn't have to address all the isues with inpatient customers I would get way more accomplished . 2 more yrs. to go then SS kicks in . YEAH !!!!
