New Radiator Dependability

I now have new radiator hoses with double O ring design, a new radiator, and redesigned degas bottle and cap. The truck also had the latest computer update with the improved sensor warnings to detect issues earlier before problems occur.

With these changes can I expect more reliability from the cooling system or is it still the same crap shoot as far as leaking radiators, etc.? Some guys go over 100K with no problems and others are on radiator #3 at 50,000.

Also, I am meticulous about maintaining coolant level coolant condition. Think I will put a coolant filter on it also.

Wondering if anyone has experience with these upgraded parts.

no experience as I am still running my orginal degas and radiator...did you get a new coolant cap too?

Regular maintance is important.

For the next few days you should be checking the level before a cold startup to ensure it does not drop down. Basically you are making sure they got the air out.

When I drove it home before it even cooled off I couldn't see the coolant level in the degas bottle. Next day drove it back to the Ford dealer to have the coolant topped up. The shop kid opened a gallon of green coolant and started to put it in. I stopped him and he started to argue with me, so I got the service advisor who told him it took the gold coolant. It took about a half gallon. After a couple trips it took another quart or so at home. I don't think they used the proper vacuum tool to refill the system. Not a confidence inspiring experience. It now maintains proper level all the time.

I think my next radiator will be a RON DAVIS aluminum radiator. They’re not cheap but they have had a few under evaluation and the results have been very good. I believe the price tag is around 1600.00 allot compared to the factory radiator but 3 or 4 times the quality. Price might have dropped I haven’t talked to them in awhile and that was a pre-production price. I am currently on my third factory radiator as well.
