Going to flush n fill and change the pan filter on my 01 f350 5.4. It's the 4r100 I believe. All the parts stores ask for deep or shallow pan. I know the base of the pan pretty much hold the filter in place. Aside from the oring. Motorcraft ft114 is what I'm looking at. Can anyone confirm???
Check out this link.... best 4r100 trans service post I have seen.... Shows pics of the 2 trans pan filters too. This should help you with the service.
parts stores are a JOKE! a 4x4 Super Duty uses they "deep" pan and a shallow is a 2wd pan. But as far as i knew both use the same filter from Ford anyways...... Just pay the extra five dollars and buy the filter from the local Ford dealer
The motorcraft is around 20$ on rock auto. Dealer wants $47. Typical. I was going to pick up some other stuff so is rather just add the filter to the order. Just didn't want to end up with the wrong one like other members have.

No, that's not right.
The E4OD used a shallow pan for the 4x2 and a deep pan for the 4x4. The filters are different. If you put a 4x4 filter in a a 4x2 pan the inlet will be pushed into the bottom of the pan and forced closed. If you put a 4x2 filter in a 4x4 pan it won't be held in place and will fall out.
The 4R100 in ALL Superduty trucks uses the deep pan and the 4x4 (deep pan) filter.
