Hello. I just recently bought my first vehicle, a 1964 Ford F100 long bed with a 292 in it. 3speed custom cab.
Been having some trouble regarding parts. I checked out Autozone/NAPA/O'Reilly to buy a water pump and some gaskets but every time they check, they don't have any parts listed for the V8, only V6.
Is the water pump different from V8 and V6? I purchased a thermal stat and accidentally said it was a V6 and the when I got home, the one I took off is way different from the V8.
Thanks so much for the replies. You guys will be hearing a lot from me.
I went to NAPAs website and typed it in but once i select the V8, there is no pump. I also try that item number but nothing. It's only for the V6. I even called a local NAPA and they only have the V6 water pump. Thanks, Mattrod68.
I also have a 1964 F100 longbed and has a 302 with 4 on floor(not stock),did have a 292 in it org. check at a merles or parts plus they have always seemed to have every thing I needed.

No such thing as a V6 installed in any truck prior to 1982. 1982/83 were the only years that a V6 (3.8L) was available (and only in F100's) until 1997.
1964 F100 available engines: 223 1V Inline 6 - 262 1V Inline 6 / 292 2V Y block V8.
The problem is: Chain autoparts stores usually do not have older parts listed on their 'puters. You have to get the parts clucks to look in their paper parts catalogs, usually stashed under the counter.

NumberDummy and arctic y block; Sorry about the V6 thing. Not too experience about vehicles and whatnot. But you knew what I meant. :-) Thank you for the info. This is helpful.
I had two more questions. I need another rear differential since the original owner switched it out for a more heavier duty one, it has 8 lug nuts rather than 5. To what year what a rear differential fit a 64?
Second question, I'm planning to make it a short bed, what size drive shaft will I need for the conversion? AND Where is the best place to cut?
I thank you all for the contribution and sorry for the bombardment of questions. I'm just really excited about the project. Thank you again.
F250's came with Dana 60's that use 8 lug wheels on a 6.50" bolt circle.
1961/72 F100 9" rear axle will interchange, but 1968/72's have larger rear brakes: 11" x 2 1/4" vs 11" x 1 3/4."
But, not all 1961/67's, some 1968's will have a 9" because if Limited Slip was ordered, Ford installed Dana 44 rear axles that have an inspection cover (like the 60), the 9 does not.
