Pulled my horse trailer from Ga. to Ok this past week for a show. Long drive and used cruise periodically but noted that sometimes when it down shifted on some of the hills, it felt like the motor was missing(shuddered) then it would smooth out. Does this should like I hit the rpm limit?
Normally in cruise you will down-shift one gear and the RPM's go to maybe 2800, so not near the limiter at all. What does happen is the cruise asks for full throttle and the boost goes to it's limit right at the downshift. I hate that so I don't let it run in cruise on hills (if I can remember).

Makes sense As it happens infrequently. Norammly don't use but. Was tired and stiff and knees needed a break.
I have the same problem with mine when I tow my 27’ traveltrailer. I did notice that it mainly happens on wet roads and just thought thatI was breaking free my rear wheel due to all the torque. But now I know the real reason.
I tow almost exclusively in cruise and the tow/haul mode. Mine will drop a gear and if needed it will drop another. If it gets below about 50 then cruise will kick off because it can no longer hold it. But that is up really long grades with a combined 23-24K.
