Ok thanks!!!!

Blade35, would they normally start service before talking it over with me if I was going to pay for it?? I would figure they would need my ok first? ALSo do you really think there could be that much crap in there if they really did a flush with only 3600 miles on the new cooler?

I think you have to OK the service by signing the form when you drop it off but they should call to ok the Parts

The way the Oil Cooler is it clogs easy very easy

But with only 3600mi you might be able to Backflush it right at the EGR Cooler hose push a lot of the junk out

You have better odds then if you had 50K on it lets say

get a coolant filter ggoing

Due to a P-Trap design its really hard maybe impossible to flush it all out

Im shure you could flush and get it to an acceptable leval thouh

my truck was full of casting sand too

IN this Pic the Screwdriver points to the Coolant Cell notice the coolant path is smaller so harder to flush

Ya the original one I took out looked like that!!!!

I really think they should stand behind everything , cuz I paid for it to br fixed right the first time, not fail in less time than I would need an oil change! Lol . Maybe wishfully thinking maybe not! I guess we will see

This thread is Exactly why I recommend to Most folks to Flush it themselves Proir to Oil Cooler replacement if a separate shop does work

To bad you didn't Flush Proir to taking it in LOL

Packed that Oil Cooler solid one last time LOL

The OIL Cooler works as a Great Filter as well Just spendy and a Hassle at this Point I bet

Are you going with Ford Gold???or ELC??

Gold at dealer??

Ok so ford called me today and told me that they have done 3 complete flushes and are still getting a lot of sand coming out. They are saying the only way to solve the problem is to put a short or long block in the truck, 14k . I told them they are out of there mind. What do you guys think??

It MIGHT be time to install the BPD remote Oil cooler, and install a coolant filter. The BPD Remote oil cooler won't clog from the sand.

You might think about the BPD EGR cooler while you are in there since it'd be awful to have that fail next...

It's a lot cheaper than 14K and it just plain works.

Have then define "a lot of sand" before you made any plans.

I would run as far away from that dealer as possible. I had the same thing happen with a local dealer and an 06 Expedition. They replaced the parts 2x and I still had an A/C Leak. They wouldn't budge. I was 10 months and 13,800 miles and they offered 10% off the same job again. I just ran away. Purchased a compressor with a 3 year warranty from rockauto.com and a new Manifold and traded that sucker in!

could all this sand be coming from the heater core(s)?
I've been thinking about flushing out the heater cores with the heater hoses DIS-connected from the engine to avoid flushing any cr&p back into the engine.

My "todo" list is longer than my wife's "honey do list" for crying out loud
