OK, I'll admit to being behind on my reading. Did they do away with the 5.4? I've got one in my '09 Lariat and have had Z-E-R-O problems with it.
Yeah we are the last of the breed. I think they went out in 2010 if I recall right. I have always had 5.4s so its all I know. My 05 had it, my Expedition has it and my 09 has it.

They still make the venerable 5.4L engine, but they only put it in the Expedition and E-series anymore. The chassis/cab Super Duty trucks also get the V10 which is effectively the same engine with a couple more cylinders.
2010 was the last model year to get a 5.4L engine in an F150. It was about freaking time IMHO; while it was a respected workhorse it fell behind competition in terms of power and efficiency years before. If I were to buy a half-ton between the years '08-'10 it would be a Tundra.
thanks for the help guys.. had the dealer look all over and they couldn't find a white xlt 5.0 with center counsel .. I'm just horrible with making up my mind.. both are great which makes it hard. i love the acceleration and power of eco but i know the 5.0 is solid.. so most guys now think the ecos will run problem free? i know iv been reading some horror stories about some ecos and i think iv been freaking myself out lol

While searching the internet for anything, keep all things in perspective.

+1.
Anything can break, and problems aren't nearly as prolific as an internet forum would have you think. No doubt there's lots more to go wrong on the EB, the technology seems to be mature enough not to have many serious issues. The biggest gripe that most seem to have is a little bit of water in the CAC, but the '13s got the updated CAC and don't seem to be affected as much.
