Diesel for a 2003 E150?
Hello all!
Just joined the forum to ask this question. I honestly don't know much at all about cars so I apologize if this is a stupid question. I've been trying to figure out if it is at all possible to convert the engine in my 2003 E150 Passenger van to a diesel one. Or, failing that, if it is possible to put in a diesel engine in general. Eventually I'd love to run the van on veggie oil, but this is a necessary first step. Is this possible?

It is nearly impossible to convert a gas engine to diesel. It is possible to replace the engine with a diesel, it just costs A LOT of money unless you can do all the work and fabrication yourself.

theres a discussion forum there and a classified section and I believe I saw a van for sale. Maybe its already converted.

your van couldn't handle the weight of any of the diesels ford used in the heavier trucks and vans, but there's no reason you couldn't put a smaller diesel in there if you really wanted to.
but if you do consider a conversion, you need to first look into the laws for your area - some areas prohibit you from installing an earlier-style engine into a later model vehicle. most also require you to plug in to a computer every couple years for emissions testing.......
at the end of the day, your best bet is to buy a vehicle with the engine you want and make minor mods from there
