P0401 & DPFE

Hi Guys
After a few months of lurking and alot of reading and learning I finally
bit the bullet and joined
Anyway I have a question that I hope someone can answer
I have a 1999 E150 with the 5.4 triton with about 186k miles
on it and the CEL came up. I scanned it and got P0401 which I figured out
that its actually the DPFE Sensor after so much reading etc...
Anyway after looking around the engine compartment on where
everyone said it would be
On the Drivers side of the engine rear
I actually found where I think its located
I say think because its actually located on the passenger side rear
almost above the PCV
The thing Im having trouble with is that from all of the pictures I looked at
this one does not look like any of the replacements altho it is plastic
Is Roundis with two hoses coming off of the side bottom at
about the 7-8 oclock position with the wiring harness off at the 3 oclock
position with a small vacum line off the top at the 12 noon position
Wish I could take a photo of it and post it but my 13 yo son took my phone to his friends house for an Xbox torny and Im not sure when he's coming back (Another story LOL)
Can anyone throw anything my way on this?
Thanks
Mike

look at the exhaust manifolds ,one of them, usually the drivers side will have a tube coming off it about 1/2 round steel that goes up along the engine to the throttle body, to the egr, this pipe has 2 hose coming off it that go to the dpfe, the dpfe only has two hoses and one is bigger than the other slightly, and a plug connector , hope this helps, then dont forget to reset the pcm, by disconnecting the battery

Thanks KB
Right where you said it would be except it was actually hidden behind a harness
and a couple of hoses,
I'll report back when Im done with the results
Almost positive thats what the cause of the CEL 0401 code is

Okay took me a little longer than I thought it would because I was working inbetween Thunder Storms and actually just finished up a little while ago and another one is inbound! Man!!!
Anyway fired it up and the CEL was off and scanned it and came up clear
Just wondering if I put the hoses back on the proper ports tho
but if I reversed the hoses, wouldn't the code pop up right away???
Any thoughts on this?

Your correct, if the hoses were switched you would get a code, visiually the hoses will be run parallel and not cross each other
