quadzilla, low boost question

I put a quadzilla chip on my wife's otherwise stock 01 excursion 7.3. It is the model with 4 settings and monitors boost, oil temp, and injector fuel pressure.

Anyway, I can hardly tell any difference in any of the settings, and at wot in the highest setting (80hp), it only shows 17-19lb of boost.

Could this be right, or am I just expecting to much?

Almost forgot, but I'm also getting a p1249 code that stays on for days at a time under normal highway speeds.

Do you have AE to look at WG duty cycle? Is the P1249 lighting the SES or are you pulling it with a scanner? I can't speak for that chip but the boosht numbers sound low to me. Maybe build a boost leak detector? When's the last time you changed the air filter?

I just changed the air filter, and I don't have an .AE. A friend pulled the codes with a snap on scanner. I've not done a boost leak test.....yet. I know it doesn't matter much, but the truck is super clean, driven like a car, and has 130k miles

Nope. Factory boots are pooish. I'd build a cheap boost leak detector and see what you can track down.

Do you mean between the settings or difference from stock to tunes?

Yep. Stock to 80.... maybe a little quicker throttle response... but not much if any difference in boost psi.

I had quadzilla in my truck. Could only use the gauges cause when I put the chip in. It defauted something and screwed up things. So I never used my chip with that set up.

That's not what I want to hear...especially since quadzilla is no longer in business.

If it were me I'd pull the chip, make sure truck is healthy, and start saving for another chip. When I installed my DP and tried the 80e tune I had permagrin, got a chubby, pooped my pants, and all those other things that describe an instant huge hp gain. You should notice a difference if the truck is healthy and the chip is worth a darn. I will have my F5 up for sale here shortly. PM me if interested.

Just an FYI, the "factory boost gauge" isn't very accurate. When I finally went with a real boost gauge, it told me what was really going on. According to my edge cts, I was barely making 25 psi boost, but when I got my gauge in it showed 32 psi. It could vary sometimes up to 10 psi difference! I would rig a pressure gauge to see what really was going on before I would trust the factory boost gauge.
