Statement from Dealer
Ford had a perfectly good, top notch, #1 selling motor in the 7.3. They should have done more R&D to get the product right in the first place.
I truly believe that the main reason they did push the 6.0 was because of the hp difference between the 7.3 vs the Cummins and Duracrap.
The Diesel Dude said on this forum on another thread that the International version and Ford version of the 6.0L use the same injectors. I don't know who but I don't think it is a Ford injector. I believe it to be made by Siemens. I am sure someone will correct me if this is wrong. Is the 7.3 still not being used in the E350 van?

Dman01, I actually agree with you on this. Ford had a perfectly good, top notch, #1 selling motor in the 7.3. They should have done more R&D to get the product right in the first place.

Man I still can't believe that you wrote something that I agree to.
This whole thing is a screw up by everyone involved. Navistar screwed up by not doing their homework on this new injector design. They've been working on it for several years so there is no excuse, in my opinion (other than greed by those at the top) for not getting it right the first time, and that is especially true when one considers the learning curve of the first generation HUEI injectors. If they had spent as much time stratigizing on their R&D as they did screwing the union people out of a few bucks on the wage and benefit package, we wouldn't be in this fix.
Ford screwed up by believing anything that the Navistar execs told them and by not offering both engines for the first 2 or 3 years of 6.0L production. They could have manufactured 6.0L powered trucks in Louisville and 7.3L powered trucks in Mexico. And I have it on good authority that the 7.3L engine is capable of passing exhaust emissions standards until 2005 (they are still using it unintercooled in the E-Series vans). If that is an incorrect statement, prove it by showing me the numbers.
I am sure we'll have some more go 'rounds in the future.
Heh Heh!The Diesel Dude is right, 7.3 is still emission legal until at least 2005. I don't know what Ford will do after that, but if they want to put the 6.0 in the E-series, they are gonna have to do a major redesign because the 6.0 as it is now will not fit. It is to wide, I looked at a brand new F-350 with a 6.0 and then my brothers '01 with a 7.3, and the 6.0 is wider.

Dman01, mark it on the calender!!
