hi every one well did some work on the 01 f250 SD 4x4 4 door she has the 5.4l
was getting 9.2 mpg but now after putting a $25.00 part i am now up to 13.2mpg YAHOO better gas lol but the problem i am having is she was in the recall for the cruise control and was fixed before i got her and i also replaced the shut off switch on the break master cylinder but nothing works i have no light on the dash when i push the on or off button and have no idea what to do next. also the truck is to quite for me and want to replace the muffler but not sure what would sound good on her. any idea on the CC and muffler please let me know thank you for reading this.
Your neighbor called and said the exhaust is good as it is. Honestly, I don't understand the whole "make lots of noise" thing. It won't give you any power or better fuel economy either. The money spent on exhaust can buy quite a bit of fuel also.
As far as the cruise control have you checked the fuse? How about the connector to the throttle actuator?
Also what was the $25 part that gave you 25% better mpg?
The CC fuse is good but not sure what conecter your talking about and asfar as the $25. Part its on ebay called fuel maxx i ddidn't be leave it would work but it does I have a 96 dodge ram with 78k miles on rebuilt motor that was a 360 but now a 375 i put the fuel Max on her and get an average of 18 to 19 mpg and when i pull my 25 foot boat i dont notice it there.
also has any one herd of a lower ball joint (new) being to tight to not let the steering return or
have some play in the steering wheel.
Yes, I've had the cheaper Chinese ball joints be very tight upon initial installation.
How did you calculate your mpg? If you're using the trip computer that thing is kinda BS. The "fuel maxx" is nothing more than a resistor to the IAT "tricking" the computer with false readings. You can do whatever you want since it's your truck, but I'd make a paperweight out of that thing sooner rather than later.
