I have a 1992 f150 4x4 with a 4.9 and a 4 speed manual trans. I have come across a 1992 f150 4x4 with a 4.9 and a 5 speed manual trans. Aside from all the other parts that will swap, am I going to run into any problems swapping the transmission and transfercase to the 5 speed. Is the clutch configuration the same between the 4 speed and 5 speed.

 

the 4 speed you have in there now was swapped in, after 88 the manual trans was a 5 speed.
last year for a 4 speed manual trans was 87.

 

Im inclined to agree 100% with the first response, but temper with: ford builds a lot of stuff for our southern and northern neighbors and if the deal does not go thru then stuff not on the dealer sheets for the US shows up.

just outta curiosity, what 4sdpd is in there? got any parts numbers or the like?

 

I don't have numbers for it but research suggests, that may be a T-18. The truck started life as a fleet vehicle for the US forestry service. It is such a low geared set up. 60 mph is about as fast as you want to drive it. That is the reason for the 5 speed swap.
