I was on here looking for info on changing the transmission fluid and realized that I made the above thread FOUR YEARS AGO, and I made that thread the day I got the truck. I transferred the tag from my old Ranger to this truck so renewing my tag isn't an anniversary of when I got it.
She just passed 70,000 miles this week too.
So far the hood has been opened to change the oil and change the air filter. That's it. It has been an amazing truck. NEVER an issue with her.
I don't haul the Mustang around anymore. Got tired of spending more time under it than in the driver seat. Now I haul this around...
That's the only picture I could find of it in my photobucket, I know there are more but I guess they are all on my phone or computer downstairs. It weighs around 8,000 pounds and she has pulled it from Knoxville TN to Destin FL, Savannah GA, Memphis TN, and last week to Caledonia WI along with a whole bunch of other places much closer. I get between 7-9mpg depending on hills, wind, and how fast I want to go.
My baby F350 also tows a little SeaRay boat to the lake on pretty days but that's nothing for her.
I showed her no love last week in Chicago when I sideswiped a support column for a parking garage backing out of a parking space.
Broke the mirror housing and dented/scratched the fender. I almost cried when I saw the damage. I'll be going by somewhere tomorrow after work to see how much $$$ it will cost to fix.
I'm in a bit of a conundrum right now. I ended up marrying the woman that rode with me to get this truck, and in the process inherited a 12 year old boy. I need a bigger back seat now but looking at new F250/F350 trucks, it breaks my heart to think I might be getting rid of this one. And if the new one doesn't perform as rock solid good as mine UUUUGGGGGHHH!!!! And there is no more V10!?!?!?!??!?! UUUUGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!
Anyway, just thought I'd check in and say Hi once again.
I know how you feel, i had to sell my nicely modded 7.3l sd because the back seat was way to small for my girls kids. Went to the excursion with a v10 go find a quad cab with a v10
As much as I miss our 02 F250 4x4 super cab V10 it was not big enough for our family especially since 4 guys (my dad, and us 3 teenage boys) while working were uncomfortable. So when we traded it in for our 02 F250 4x4 crew cab V10 that we have now I ended up loving it just as much if not more. Looking into a 05-10 F250 or F350 crew cab V10 I bet you will really love it. And by the way they didn't stop making V10s they are still in F550s and I believe F450 cab and chassis trucks.
Trav
Ford's fleet site still lists the 450 and 550 chassis cabs to be available with the 3V V10. They added the 6.2l to the option list also.
I believe the 5R110 has a thermostat that needs to be opened for the fluid to be properly replaced. I don't know if there is a similar procedure to the 4R100 to be used on the 5R110. It is a completely different animal compared to the 4R100.
Yeah I knew it was technically still available, but not in what I need anymore. I've looked at '08-'10 crew cabs trucks for sale but really hate to think I'd have to pay a lot money to get the exact same thing I got except with a larger back seat. I paid $23K for mine 4 years ago, it was a steal at the time, had a kbb of $36K. The "good" ones I'm finding for sale now are selling for over $30K. $7K+ for a bigger back seat is a bit steep.
You cannot change properly change the trans fluid without a machine that opens the internal thermostat which will allow all the fluid ti be swapped out.
