Was all set to do some serious cruising in my '50 F 3, till I did something very stupid. I coach a 11U baseball team, and while getting them ready for the last game of the year, I got challenged to a race to 1st base. Not one to back down I accepted. Was way out in front till I tripped and broke my collar bone in 2 places. Now I can't shift! My wife says at 60 I should know better. You'd think after 40 years she would know me better.
Ouch! Hope you heal up fast. Take her along to do the shifting for you.....LOL!
You beat me to it.This is where a column shift is a problem. A floor shift, you can get anyone to shift for you. If you have kids or especially grandkids, I'm sure they would love to cruse and shift for you.
Of course you couldn't back down from that challenge. I bet they even double dog dared you.
From one little league coach to another, I applaud the effort!! Kids nowadays CANNOT run. I got into a lot of races to first base this year during practice. It's the most frustrating thing in the world. And don't even get me started about how the kids refuse to run full steam all the way and through first base. Sorry. I had a moment. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming. Sorry to hear about your collarbone. Can be quite painful.
Sorry to hear about your collar bone.
I for one applaud your willingness to race the little buggers. And to try and teach/coach the team. Good for you.
I broke a collar once, was really painful, ask my sister it hers. We were around ten years old.and playing around with a ball. We.both grabbed it at the same time and tripped with me falling on top of her breaking.her collar bone.
Sorry about the shoulder, but the time you and your grandson spend together shifting and clutching together, will be fond memories that he will remember for the rest of his life. So I hope you heal fast, and enjoy the adventure. PS, When I read the name of this post "stupidity" I thought someone was calling me, I've had quite a streak this past year. LOL
Sorry to hear about your injury. Hope you recover quickly. I've coached my 15 yr old for the last 6 yrs in baseball, and will coach my 8yr old next year. I'm 52 and have no where near the athletic ability I had 5yrs ago. I know it's hard watching the effortless attitude kid's have now a days. I coach at the AA level and can't believe the lack of effort after they make the team. That's why it'll be a pleasure coaching my youngest next year. The reason being is they will listen and be very coachable at that age. heal fast and get your butt back on the field.
