sputtering under load

Hey guys I got a 1977 f250 with a 400 and manual transmission, I use it as my pull truck and as I go down the track it sputters something awful. Im told and ignition system would fix this but what do you guys think of this?

Could be a number of things .Coil Ignition module Carburator problem getting too much or too little gas .I would check timing first then vaccuum advance pull check spark plugs see if its running lean or rich .then check fuel pressure then carb. Need a little more detailon what carb your running and if the engine is stock or cammed up
